Day 10

revelation 2:2-5

Before you begin, take a few moments to quiet your mind and prepare your heart to receive God’s Word. Read the following passage at least twice, and then pray through the points below.

2 “‘I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false. 3 I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name's sake, and you have not grown weary. 4 But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.

Today's prayer points

Our works and striving for good things mean nothing if we forget Jesus, our First Love. Take a few moments to reflect on the state of your heart. Is Jesus at the center of your life? Are your prayers for the nations coming from an overflow of love for Him? Or are you "checking boxes" out of empty obedience? Remember Jesus and the love you had for Him when you first believed. Remember the sacrificial love He has shown you.

Pray that those who are sent from our church will not forsake their First Love. Pray that all the works they do in Jesus' name as they bring the gospel to the nations will come from an overflow of Jesus' love for them.

Pray that our church would have the faithful endurance to put Jesus first in all things. We don't want to go to places where God is not leading us. We don't want "great success" if it's not rooted in Jesus. Pray that all our work among the nations would be founded in Jesus, our First Love.
