Day 13

john 15:4-5

Before you begin, take a few moments to quiet your mind and prepare your heart to receive God’s Word. Read the following passage at least twice, and then pray through the points below.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing

Today's prayer points

We can only bear good fruit when we abide in the True Vine, Jesus. To abide is to dwell deeply in God’s presence, resting in the finished work of Christ and becoming more like Him as our love for Him grows. Take a few moments to rest in Jesus and to just be in His presence, trusting that His Word will work in your heart to produce good fruit.

Pray that we as a church would regularly abide in Jesus and trust that He will bear fruit in us, both here and in the nations.Pray that we would not try to produce fruit apart from the Vine. Apart from Jesus, we can do nothing (15:5).

Ask God to be gracious and to show us fruit in the nations. As we pray for His will to be done, we trust that it will be. But we also want to ask Him to show us that fruit that, in seeing all He does, our faith and joy will increase as He is glorified and exalted among all people.
