Before you begin, take a few moments to quiet your mind and prepare your heart to receive God’s Word. Read the following passage at least twice, and then pray through the points below.
4 Now those who were scattered went about preaching the word. 5 Philip went down to the city of Samaria and proclaimed to them the Christ. 6 And the crowds with one accord paid attention to what was being said by Philip, when they heard him and saw the signs that he did. 7 For unclean spirits, crying out with a loud voice, came out of many who had them, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed. 8 So there was much joy in that city.
Joy abounds when the gospel is preached and people are healed and delivered (8:8). Take a few moments to consider the last time you experienced true joy at hearing the good news of Jesus. What specifically produced joy in you? Pray that unreached peoples will experience that same joy at hearing God's Word proclaimed. Spend a few moments thanking God for freely giving you joy through Christ. Ask Him to give you that joy this week as you seek Him.
Now take a few moments to consider the last time you experienced true joy in proclaiming the good news of Jesus. What specifically produced joy in you? Ask God to raise up believers in the nations to begin proclaiming God's Word and experience the same joy. Spend a few moments thanking God that He has given you great joy to share with others. Ask Him to give you that joy this week as you seek Him and strive to tell others about Him.
Pray that God would allow our church to share in great joy with those whom we will send to the nations as they proclaim the gospel. Pray that we would all co-labor together, that the nations would experience the joy found only in Christ.
