Day 18

luke 10:1-2

Before you begin, take a few moments to quiet your mind and prepare your heart to receive God’s Word. Read the following passage at least twice, and then pray through the points below.

1 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go. 2 And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.

Today's prayer points

The harvest is plentiful. People are ready to hear the gospel, but the Word says the workers are few (10:2). Take a few moments to reflect on this reality. It isn't openness to hearing the gospel that is lacking. What is lacking are workers to go and share the gospel where people are ready to listen. We can prepare and send workers out into the plentiful harvest. God has given us a charge, so let us pray earnestly that the Lord who is over all the harvest will send out workers from among us to the ripe fields of the nations.

The workers went out, two by two (10:1). Pray for God to establish healthy teams and committed leaders to go out into the harvest together. Pray for unity in the Spirit, complementary giftings, commitment to holiness, and a love of God above all else.

Ask God for more churches to recognize that the harvest is plentiful and that more workers are needed among the unreached. Pray for more churches to join the cooperative and to rally around the mission God has given us through His Word.
