Before you begin, take a few moments to quiet your mind and prepare your heart to receive God’s Word. Read the following passage at least twice, and then pray through the points below.
9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” 11 And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”
Take a moment to reflect on what it means that "a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages" will stand before the throne of God together and worship Him (7:9). Can you picture different faces and unique cultures? Does this truth excite your heart? Ask God for a heart that bursts with joy at this truth.
Pray that God will give our church an eternal perspective when we consider going to peoples who have not yet heard the gospel. Without the saving grace that is found only in Jesus' life, death, and resurrection, people will be forever separated from our perfect loving God. If your heart feels apathetic or callous toward this truth, ask God to heal that brokenness in you.
Spend a few moments praising and thanking God that all people adopted into His eternal family through Jesus will get to experience worshipping face to face with Him before His throne. Ask God to use our church to bring many from other nations and cultures into His family, that they would one day join us in worshipping around the throne of God and enjoying Him forever.
