What is Students City Limits (SCL)?

Students City Limits is the annual fall retreat for 6th-12th graders from all six congregations of The Austin Stone. For one weekend, Students gather at Pine Cove in Columbus, Texas, for intentional time away with Jesus and their communities.

Our Students Team crafts this environment for middle and high schoolers to safely experience worship, teaching, late-night activities, small group discussions, free time, and fun together.

We hope your students choose to join with their peers, leaders, and church family as we look to Jesus together and learn to root our identities in Him!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is SCL?

SCL is a weekend-long event where students from our ministry gather to spend time with Jesus and build relationships with one another. Each day includes worship, teaching, small groups, devotionals, breakouts, free time, and late-night activities. We’re excited to have an opportunity for students to connect with the Lord and their friends and leaders while having fun!

In the past, we’ve had two weekends (one for middle school and one for high school). But this year, we’ll have ONE mega weekend for both middle and high schoolers. They’ll participate in sessions together, but the rest of the retreat will include separate experiences.

Where is SCL held?

SCL is held at Pine Cove Camps in Columbus, Texas. Students stay in bunk houses with other students their age and gender, and we host all activities on the Pine Cove campgrounds.

Middle and high schoolers will have different sleeping accommodations.

Who can participate?

Any student currently in 6th-12th grade! Students are encouraged to invite their friends, even if they don’t attend The Austin Stone.

Who's teaching during the sessions and leading worship?

This year, Brian Benkendorfer will be the speaker for all of SCL. Brian is the North Congregation Executive Pastor and an elder at The Austin Stone. An Austin Stone Worship band will lead worship throughout the weekend.

Who will be my student's leader during the retreat?

Your students will mainly spend time with their DCOMM (small groups of the same grade/gender) and their DCOMM Leaders. During worship, games, free time, and meals, students will get to spend time with students from other small groups.

Leaders participating in SCL have completed our safety onboarding process, which includes applications, interviews, background checks, child abuse prevention training, and other Austin Stone policy and procedure training. Your students' safety is our TOP priority.

How do I apply for a scholarship?

We’re happy to provide partial scholarships for anyone needing financial assistance. Please request a scholarship here before registering.
