Read From Jehoram to Ahaziah and An Overview of Ahaziah. Briefly, what stands out to you about King Ahaziah?
Read 2 Chronicles 22:1-6. Who were the key influences on Ahaziah's life and reign? What could this reveal about Judah's spiritual condition at the time?
Who are the godly counselors you let speak into your life right now? What are some of the things they have been saying to you? How do you discern whether their influence is godly or ungodly?
Whether you know them personally or they're just someone you listen to, can you think of any people who may be having an ungodly influence on the way you think, feel, or behave? Psalm 1:1 says, "Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers." What potential danger could you face if you continue to let such people have an influence in your life?
Read 2 Chronicles 22:7-9. It can be uncomfortable to think about God's wrath and judgment against sin. How is God's judgment displayed in Ahaziah's short reign and violent death? What does this text show us about sin and its consequences? Also, why do you think God cares so much about the purity and holiness of His people?
Read Prophetic Warnings & Promises and Isaiah 46:8-13. If God makes a promise, He will do it. Are you facing any dark situations right now where you need to be reminded of God's promises? Explain the situation, and any promise of God you're clinging to.
Spend some time in prayer together. As you pray for each other, read any of God's promises from Scripture that come to mind for specific people in your group. (Some promises of God: Isaiah 41:10, 1 Peter 5:10, John 16:33, Colossians 3:23-24, Philippians 4:19.)
