Despite losing some of her hearing at an early age, Sammi lived her life confidently. But, when she completely lost all of her hearing at age 15, everything changed. Between having to relearn how to hear with a cochlear implant and experiencing abuse at home, Sammi felt herself start to drift into the darkness of isolation and depression.She continued to slowly slip further and further away from the joyful girl she once was until her interpreter invited her to church one Sunday and offered to interpret the service in ASL so that she could understand. Sammi agreed, and it was there that the Holy Spirit began to chip away at the darkness that had held her captive.
