Education & Experience

  • Clinical Foundation: Daniel earned his Master of Music Therapy in 2015. He subsequently began serving and leading in church-based recovery ministries at The Village Church and The Austin Stone.
  • Specialized Training: Daniel completed a Soul Care residency through The Austin Stone before joining the Austin Stone Counseling Center in 2019.
  • International Service: Following a period of international service as a missionary in Thailand, Daniel returned to Austin in 2025 to continue his clinical practice. During his time overseas, he received specialized training in conflict resolution, sabbatical coaching, on field debriefing, and Multiplying Hope.
  • Core Mission: His passion centers on helping individuals gain a deeper understanding of themselves and God through intentional, compassionate care.

Interests & Specialties

Daniel specializes in counseling for a range of presenting concerns, utilizing evidence-based, compassionate approaches. His areas of focus include:

  • Clinical Concerns: Grief care, anxiety, depression, addictions, and suicidality.
  • Specialty Populations: Missionary and "Goer" care.
  • Trauma Interventions: Poly-vagal theory, SSP and a focus on safe attachments.
  • Sensory Processing issues: Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) for adults and adolescents
  • Adolescents: Music Therapy, SSP and talk therapy for ages 10 and up.

Personal

Daniel Allen is a biblically rooted and trauma-informed therapist based in Austin, Texas. He is dedicated to providing compassionate care and counseling to individuals seeking growth and healing.

Outside of his practice, Daniel is an active member of the Austin community. He enjoys spending time outdoors, is a musician who is always open to good music recommendations, and volunteers his time teaching ESL to immigrants and refugees in the Austin area.
