Design Resident

Summary

As part of the Creative team at The Austin Stone Community Church, the Design Resident will be responsible for visual design and application, including but not limited to collateral material, logo development, typography, photography, and web, with a priority toward the Sunday Gathering. The Design Resident will routinely develop visual designs that effectively accomplish the goal of the assigned project.

The Design Resident will report to the Creative Manager.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other Graphic Designers to achieve the design needs of The Austin Stone Community Church, bringing new and fresh design initiatives to fruition and ideation.
  • Help in managing the design templates and trainings for the Canva software 
  • Develop visual design for designated requests and projects from our ministry leaders.
  • Accomplish project assignments with excellence in a timely manner.   
  • Interact with copywriters to develop creative concepts and executions of assigned project(s).
  • Champion the design aesthetic for specific Austin Stone ministries, while maintaining consistency with the overall Austin Stone brand.
  • Provide input in various phases of the design process.
  • Assist with making presentations to ministry leaders.
  • Attend, serve, and lead at all required events and activities for The Austin Stone, including all staff meetings, prayer meetings, special events, staff development days, etc.

What will the schedule be like?

While each resident benefits from different ministry experiences, every resident completes our Austin Stone Development Program (ASDP), an in-depth study of doctrine and spiritual disciplines, and leadership training. Residents also attend weekly staff meetings, meet with supervisors once a week, and regularly gather with other residents for lunch and other activities. Residents prioritize abiding in Christ by sabbathing one day a week.

What will residents learn in ASDP?

The Austin Stone Development Program works through several areas of core Christian doctrine:

The program, also, addresses several core ministry philosophies at The Austin Stone and many other topics. Additionally, spiritual disciplines are studied and implemented to further stir affection for and obedience to God.

Are residents paid?

Yes, but residents raise financial support to provide a salary for two years.

How do residents raise support?

Residents go through mandatory training with Reliant, a partnering organization, to learn how to raise support and to manage financial gifts and supporters.

Where do residents live?

Residents live throughout the Austin metroplex, often choosing to rent an apartment or home with other residents. Residents are responsible for finding housing.
