It’s within Holy Week that joy and sorrow perfectly intertwine. We mourn the suffering and death of an innocent King for the benefit of the guilty, and then rejoice in His victory over death and the inheritance it secures for us. We reflect on the weighty cost of sin, and then celebrate the heavenly intercessor whose blood bought our righteousness. We weep tears of sadness at the foot of the cross, and then shed tears of elation at the entrance of the empty tomb. In Christ’s life, death, burial, and resurrection, our hope was secured!
