Habakkuk 3:16-18

  1. Read Habakkuk 3:16–18. Habakkuk speaks with reverence and confidence. Where do you see this in the text? Which posture comes more naturally to you?
  2. Read Psalm 46. What parallels with Habakkuk’s prophecy do you see or hear? What truths about God enable the people to stand firm?
  3. Paul David Tripp says our idea of God will be inaccurate or unstable if we arrive at it by trying to understand what He’s doing in and through the situations of our lives. When have you experienced this to be true? What might your life look like if you were to base your idea of God on what He reveals in the Bible broadly and to Habakkuk specifically?
  4. In what ways are you tempted to believe more information or greater clarity about a situation will help you understand a situation or God better? What happened when you listened to that temptation?
  5. By wrestling with God, Habakkuk learns to stand by faith, to wait quietly, and to rejoice. Where are you in your faith journey with Jesus? How can this community support you where you are and encourage you toward your next step of faith?
