About

To know, love, and share the Word of God is a call on the life of every believer. So to grow in our ability to study the Word deeply, handle it rightly, and share it with boldness is critical. Join us in September as women from across all campuses and life-stages come together for two days of hands-on training in In-Depth Bible Study.

The Gospel Coalition has created the “Word-Filled Women” training to support the local church’s development of women leaders who are Christ-exalting, gospel-centered, and Word-filled.

The workshop includes teaching from TGC-sponsored teachers focusing on a biblical approach to women’s ministry and discipleship; and biblical exposition, working through the book of Colossians. Small-group discussion time, Q&A with teachers, and worship are also integral components of the workshop.

The Austin Stone is elated to partner with The Gospel Coalition to empower women to be effective ministers of the gospel in whatever context they find themselves. We pray God will use this training to help equip women in our church to love the Word of God and be propelled to share that love in our city.

Teachers

  • Jen Wilkin

Jen is an author and Bible teacher from Dallas, Texas. She and her family call The Village Church home. Jen and Jeff have four children between the ages of 16 and 20 and have been married for 23 years. They also own the two most adorable pugs in the universe. Jen grew up in Texas and came to saving faith in elementary school. Her childhood was marked by time spent in seven different denominations—a range of experiences that left her with the conviction that knowing the Word was the only sure means of discerning truth from error. Jen’s passion is to see women become articulate and committed followers of Christ with a clear understanding of why they believe what they believe, grounded in the Word of God. When she's not spending time on ministry she loves to cook, garden, and read. She also maintains a rigorous schedule of naps.
  • Blaire Linne

Blaire serves as director of women's ministries at Risen Christ Fellowship in Philadelphia, PA, where her husband is one of the founding pastors. Raised in Los Angeles, CA, Blair's love for God's Word blossomed as she came to Christ at the age of 22. It developed further as she attended The Masters College. As she grows in her walk with the Lord, God continues to build on the foundation of His Word that He established at her conversion. Blair rejoices in the many opportunities she has had to serve ladies with the Word, both through teaching and spoken-word poetry. She lives in Philadelphia, PA, with her husband Shai and three children, Sage (5), Maya (3), and Ezra (2).
  • Kathleen Nielson

Kathleen serves as senior advisor and book editor of women’s initiatives for The Gospel Coalition. Author of Bible studies with both Crossway and P&R, she speaks at women’s conferences nationally and internationally and loves working with women in studying the Bible. Kathleen has been drawn to words and the Word since she can remember—recalling vividly hearing her father read the Bible aloud to their family every night in a deep, clear voice that relished every phrase. She’s grateful for years of studying literature (PhD, Vanderbilt University; BA, Wheaton College), teaching it, and then applying that study to the greatest work of literature ever written, breathed out by the God of the universe. Kathleen shares a heart for students with her husband Niel—president of Covenant College from 2002 to 2012—and now works with an Indonesian group helping to lead enterprises in Christian education, business, and healthcare. You can find Kathleen and Niel sometimes at home in Wheaton, Illinois, and sometimes at home in Jakarta. They have three grown sons, two beautiful daughters-in-law, and four amazing granddaughters.
